The present cottages housing our intellectually challenged inmates were put up in 1979. Over the years we’ve kept repairing and rebuilding them. Three cottages, one for intellectually disabled senior citizens, the second for intellectually disabled women, and the third for the office cum visiting room have to be rebuilt. Of these the dormitories for the intellectually disabled senior citizens, and for intellectually disabled women have to be rebuilt immediately.
Our inmates are accommodated in cottages designed to blend with the rural atmosphere. The design of these cottages is simple: a large open area for the inmate’s beds and cupboards, toilets/bathing rooms and a small veranda. The cost of changing the cement asbestos roofs of all the dormitories is very high. So, we decided on installing false ceilings. With help we have been able to install false ceilings for the senior men and women’s dormitory. This has helped keep the dormitories cool. Help is needed to install false ceilings for the men’s dormitory, and the community hall.
